With a daily increase of 16,922 in total cases, the highest in a single day, India’s tally has risen from 456,183 to 473,105, an increase of 3.7%. Death toll has reached 14,894, with 418 fatalities in a day. India is the fourth-most-affected country by total cases, and eighth by death toll.
The net increase in active cases across India is 3,492, compared with 5,008 on Wednesday. The states that have reported the biggest 24-hour jump in active cases are Delhi (1,600), Telangana (749), Tamil Nadu (408), Karnataka (236), and Uttar Pradesh (186).
With 13,012 new recoveries being reported, India’s recovery rate has improved to 57.4%; death rate has come down to 3.1%.
India’s new daily closed cases stand at 13,430 — 418 deaths and 13,012 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases has fallen to 3.11%.
India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 3.7%.
India’s doubling time for total cases has reduced to 19 days, and that for active cases has increased to 36.7 days. Doubling time for deaths, meanwhile, stands at 24.3 days.
The states and UTs that have seen their respective sharpest single-day spikes in total cases are Maharashtra (3,890), Tamil Nadu (2,865), Telangana (891), Kerala (152), and A&N Islands (6).
Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Maharashtra (3,890), Delhi (3,788), Tamil Nadu (2,865), Telangana (891), and Uttar Pradesh (664).
Among states with more than 5,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Telangana (41.8%), Andhra Pradesh (46.3%), Maharashtra (51.6%), Tamil Nadu (56.0%), and Haryana (57.7%).
Five most affected states by total tally of cases are Maharashtra (142,900), Delhi (70,390), Tamil Nadu (67,468), Gujarat (28,943), and Uttar Pradesh (19,557).
Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported a net addition of 3,890 cases, the highest in a day so far. Its total tally has reached 142,900, which is 30.2% of all cases in India.
Tamil Nadu, which has reported its biggest single-day jump of 2,865 cases, has added more than 2,000 cases on each of the past 8 days — aggregating 19,449 cases, or nearly 29% of its total, in these 8 days alone.
Delhi has seen its case tally rising by 3,788, including 68 deaths. It has reported more than 3,000 cases on 5 of the past 6 days, and added 23,288 cases, or 33% of all its total, in the past 7 days alone.
